This is one of my kids favourite dish, easy soya chicken. I cook this dish almost every week. Very easy to prepare and cook and extremely kid friendly.
The recipe is based on estimates. Adjust the sauce to your liking. If you don't want it sweet, use regular black soya. I prefer kicap manis.
Some like to add cornflour to thicken the sauce but i like mine without. You can add if you like.

My airfryer is one of my favourite appliances in the kitchen. If you do not owe an oven, I highly recommend that you get one for yourself. There are many many things that you can do with it. Apart from baking, you can also use it for stir frying. I bought an airfryer recipe book and decided to try one of the recipe. You will need a small baking tin for this.

I had a bunch of apples at home and running out of fridge space to keep them. Ended up making this easy apple galette to get rid of some of them. Other than the pastry that needs a recipe, the filling is simply by estimation.
I used flan pastry for this galette because it is the easiest and less fragile.

This dish is inspired by a dish a colleague had when we had lunch at a restaurant in Sydney. So took the opportunity to test my new tagine, I just had to make it for dinner a few days ago. We had it with rotis/chapatis instead of a crusty bread which is in fact a better choice. This is an easy dish that can be prepared in 30mins.

Small treat for the girls over the weekend with my stash of dark chocolate in the refrigerator. Got this idea from pinterest (where else :D) and I thought it was cool to have it done for the girls. So with my medium size skillet, good dark chocolate bars plus some leftover bittersweet chocolate chip cookies, they had a great time munching this after lunch. I make my own yogurt at home using my yogurt maker and cultured powder, once a few weeks. They are usually made with low and full fat milk and quite recently with coconut milk. I usually eat it on its own or use it for my bakes and cooking. A few days ago, I chanced upon a recipe of a vietnamese yogurt that uses sweetened condensed milk. Very interesting I should say and that Zuryneehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02469831179197736408noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8182257.post-12984445809579353982014-06-09T09:44:00.000+08:002014-06-09T09:44:32.761+08:00Random: My coffee corner
Just some random entry which is not food related :) I always enjoy a good cup of coffee and feels that it would be a shame to hide this cute pixie in the kitchen. So I decided to dedicate a small corner of my flat for my coffee machine so that I can serve my guests with good quality coffee. Nothing fancy really, just that I got a good friend to do one framework for me to hang Zuryneehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02469831179197736408noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8182257.post-15816651319966175662014-06-05T16:32:00.001+08:002014-06-05T16:33:46.532+08:00Juicy Lucy Cheeseburger
One of those weekends when you do not know what to prepare for lunch. Then the hubby requested for a burger after he saw a photo of the juicy lucy burger done by his cousin. So since I am in the mood to be busy, I made this for lunch. Mince the meat using my grinder and baked the burger buns - everything from scratch .. well almost everything :)
You know I always go for easy recipe and Zuryneehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02469831179197736408noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8182257.post-78192515006764595782014-06-05T16:19:00.000+08:002014-06-05T16:19:02.165+08:00Quick Rise Yeasted Rolls
I was thinking of baking bread but not in the mood to do something that takes hours. So tried this recipe because of the rave reviews. It also doesn't use huge amount of yeast considering this is a quick rise roll. Verdict: really good. Soft and delicious.
I made minor changes. Refer to the link for the original recipe. Mix the dough till slightly stretchy before the first rest. I had some overriped bananas in the refrigerator that was calling me. Need to clear them and I was thinking of something chocolaty. After checking the internet, I ended up with this. Recipe is taken of a magazine and not only it was easy, but they came out delicious. I have made some modification to the flour but I would encourage you to try the original recipe

This is the new addition to my collection of kitchen utensil/appliances which I purchased end of last year. I have been wanting to get hold of one for the longest time but was not prepared to pay for the hefty price tag. I did find a brand that fits my budget and was planning to get it during the departmental store's sale. Before that could happened, I had to go to Sydney for a Zuryneehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02469831179197736408noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8182257.post-58050685017237064082014-03-31T09:30:00.004+08:002014-03-31T09:38:58.844+08:00Chocolate Banana Cake
This is my other half's favourite cake and he will always, like always requests for this for his birthday without fail. So every year, I will bake this at least once just for him. This cake can be a bit tedious if you are not used to it because you need to first bake the chocolate sponge, prepare the filling and then the chocolate glaze. However, it is worth all the time and Zuryneehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02469831179197736408noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8182257.post-65001205040913982322014-03-27T10:45:00.002+08:002014-03-28T09:12:14.546+08:00Wok-baked Easy Banana Cake
I have been trying to bake easy cakes using the wok after watching a demo done by the saleslady when I purchased the wok she was selling. You might think that it will have a steamed cake texture but surprising it doesn't. However the top will not brown as much like the sides and bottom. Controlling the fire is the key to get a nice bake, yes I have burnt a couple when the Zuryneehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02469831179197736408noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8182257.post-13274776443338182332014-02-25T16:07:00.001+08:002014-02-25T16:07:08.349+08:00Chocolate sponge with cream cake
I made this cake for my youngest daughter's 7th birthday last November as she requested for a simple cake for her birthday. Initially she wanted to share it with her friends but changed her mind at the last minute. Her sisters and herself got to enjoy this cake all by themselves :)
This is pretty much a versatile cake. I chose to use peaches because my kids love them. Zuryneehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02469831179197736408noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8182257.post-67315669130438193132014-02-20T10:07:00.002+08:002014-02-20T10:07:49.342+08:00Oreo Mini Donut
So I bought a 7-hole donut maker last year and kept it in the storeroom for a couple of months before I decided to use it recently. This is one of the makers that I have bought and I still have another one which I have yet to open and try :-P
Anyways, since i got bitten by the baking bug BUT a tad bit lazy to use the oven, I took the opportunity to use this instead. So this is Zuryneehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02469831179197736408noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8182257.post-3476336130456252602014-02-19T15:46:00.001+08:002014-02-19T15:47:53.297+08:00Italian style pizza
The hubby and kids are pizza 'monsters'. One of the ways to get them do what I want is to make pizzas for them. We like thin crust pizzas and fortunately we are not really into American style pizzas. The girls favourite is hawaiian and magherita and mine is anything simple especially mushroom and onion. Having said that, i have tried numerous pizza crust recipe and found an Zuryneehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02469831179197736408noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8182257.post-63479056743284041102014-02-18T09:23:00.001+08:002014-03-20T10:46:59.944+08:00Minced meat in black bean sauce
I love simple dishes that I can prepare in less than 15 mins and this is one of them. My kids are still not used to the black bean sauce but I personally like this. This is great to eat with either plain rice porridge or hot steaming rice. It is high in protein because it has minced meat and tofu.
What you need:
250-300g minced chicken
1 tube egg tofu, drained

Hello again ! I am sorry that have not been updating my blog for a long time. Work and personal matters beckoned me and I was swamped with lots of things to do and left with very little time. Anyways with 2014, I hope that I can resurrect this site again and get back my mojo to bake/cook and post more :-)
For the first post in 2014, it is a simple dish which I love for its Zuryneehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02469831179197736408noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8182257.post-57901198362212886652012-12-12T17:43:00.001+08:002012-12-12T17:45:17.368+08:00Rosette Cake
I can't believe we are almost towards the end of 2012 .. today is 12.12.12, what a wonderful date. Here, many couples are getting married today just because of the number. Sweet huh :)
So I have been busy lately that I didn't have the time to update my blog. I know it has been collecting dust and I feel soo guilty. So today I am putting up Zuryneehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02469831179197736408noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8182257.post-40955781603740169152012-09-11T17:52:00.002+08:002012-09-11T17:54:24.479+08:00Fresh Fruit Tart
I love anything with fresh fruits especially tarts. I just had to make one for myself eversince I saw those tarts from Fruit Paradise. So I finally gather my mojo and made this which was a couple of months back :-P I have not personally tried any of the tarts yet as the branches are simply out of my way. So after talking to my colleagues about it, checking with Zuryneehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02469831179197736408noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8182257.post-2741265347776600282012-07-20T12:56:00.000+08:002012-07-20T12:56:36.353+08:00Ayam masak kicap or Chicken in soya sauce malay style ala Zu
One of my kids favourite is chicken in soya sauce gravy. There are many version of chicken in soya sauce, some are more savoury with spices like cinnamon, cloves etc, some are very simple no spices at all and some like what my late mom used to cook is added with tomato ketchup/puree for added flavour like this one.
You can see there are rings of onions (the more the merrier) Zuryneehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02469831179197736408noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8182257.post-44301182754647297202012-07-20T11:32:00.002+08:002012-07-20T11:32:48.534+08:00Dark Chocolate Dessert Cake
My least creative cake that I baked for my colleagues in the office yesterday night :-D It is a very simple recipe and is taken off the back of a cadbury dark cooking chocolate wrapper. I would say that not only it is easy, it tastes real good too. I used dark ghana whittakers chocolate but you can use any good quality dark chocolate for this. However, I Zuryneehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02469831179197736408noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8182257.post-2817086402720580532012-07-19T13:03:00.001+08:002012-07-19T13:15:43.054+08:00Flour famous banana bread
I made this lovely banana bread a few weeks ago for my sister who was going back to Shanghai. We usually have this deal, I got her to buy some stuffs for me from Shanghai and I in turn will bake for her some cakes or stuffs to bring back. Good thing was that my dad bought some bananas which I used for this banana bread.
I kind of like the idea of taking a photo of the baked&Zuryneehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02469831179197736408noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8182257.post-27415588174411746232012-07-11T17:31:00.002+08:002012-07-11T17:31:15.816+08:00Work Lunch #1
I have been bringing lunch to office quite often now as I am trying to eat healthy :-D I usually share my lunch photo with my friends at FB and decided maybe I should share them in this blog. So this post is my first lunch photo and here it is :D
This is chicken in soya sauce and steamed broccoli. I was just too lazy to do a stir-fry this morning hence the simple Zuryneehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02469831179197736408noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8182257.post-39730481993825667532012-07-10T10:07:00.001+08:002012-07-10T10:07:54.146+08:00Tomato Sauce Noodles
This is actually inspired by Sarawak Kway Teow. Since my kids and husband are not a great fan of kway teow, I substitute it with udon instead. You can use any noodles that you like as the method is pretty much like hor fun.
What you need:
1 kg fresh noodle (kway teow, udon, yellow noodles or bee hoon)
3 cloves garlic, minced
3T black soya sauce
2T oil
200-300g chicken fillet, cut into Zuryneehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02469831179197736408noreply@blogger.com1
