Oven Fried Chicken Wings

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

This is an extremely no mess, easy and versatile recipe. My dh loves fried chicken wings but I hate it especially the cleaning part. This recipe will give you a fried chicken texture minus the oil. Friends have tried it and love it.

Ingredients

8 chicken wings
3/4 - 1 cup plain flour
1-1.5 tbsp spices (I used the beef steak spices which I bought from Giant at $1 per packet. You can use 5 spices powder also)
salt to taste

Method

1. Preheat oven at 200C
2. Clean and rub a little bit of salt on the wings
3. Mix the flour and spices together
3. Dredge the chicken wings till well coated. Shake off excess flour.
4. Lined the floured wings on the roasting rack
5. Bake the wings for about 20-30 minutes and turn the wings over and bake another 20-30 minutes or until the wings are cooked
6. Serve immediately

Hey Zu, I tried this recipe of yours last week to go with my Chicken Rice. Very yummy & really like deep fried. I added in some cornstarch & baking powder into the flour for more crisp. Really good, my hubby likes it very much. Thanx for such a great & easy recipe :D

This recipe is great!! So easy and the wings turned out so nice and crispy! It's so much healthier than eating deep-fried chicken wings! Cleaning is so easy too!
thanks!

dumb question. new with using oven and all these canggih kitchen appliances. when lining the wings on the roasting rack, do i place them directly on it or would i need to overlay with anything else like aluminium foil? does the same method apply to roasting a whole chicken, etc?

Hi Ling,

Best is to overlay the roasting rack with aluminium foil also good to cover the tray with the foil for easy cleaning. To avoid the skin from sticking, you may want to rub some vinegar on the aluminium foil.

Hey Zu

Cooked this tonite and it turned out great....even my kinda "fussy" kids love it. Definitely a healthy alternative to good old "fried" chix wings. Will try it out with different seasoning another time.

Thanks heaps!

Hi Zu,

I enjoy your blog. I had try your Yeast-free Banana Cinnamon Roll (without banana). It taste nice.
I would like to try your Oven Fried Chicken Wings. It's look tempting. Can I used cake flour or hong kong flour to substitute the plain flour.

Thank you in advance.

Hi BabelPoh,

It should not be a problem. You can use corn flour/starch if you like too.
